SHITO RYU SHUKOKAI KARATE DO WORLD CUP - CHARTRES, FRANCE

The team of Shito-Ryu Shukokai Karate Union Greece has returned From CHARTRES of France, where they participated to the world cup that the French Federation of Karate organised, in cooperation with Shito-ryu Shukokai Karate Union France and the Municipality of CHARTRES.

It was a fantastic organisation with the participation of fifteen countries with more than two hundred students. From the Greek side, the following participated: Nikolaos KARAISKAKIS, Anna HOURDAKI, Georgios PLOUSOS, Stergios TSAKALAKIS, Nikolaos PITSITAKIS.


Our team reached CHARTRES on Wednesday 9/11/05 and participated in the opening ceremony, where the representatives of the participating countries attended along with their teams. On Thursday, the general meeting took place, where the similar organisation that takes place every two years, was decided to take place in Romania during 2007, and in Greece in 2009, specifically in Heraklion of Crete!
During Thursday afternoon, and Friday morning, a seminar took place, in which our team has also participated. The seminar was taught by: Shihan Tsutomu KAMOHARA - 8 Dan, Technical Director for Shito-ryu Shukokai Karate Union Europe, and Hanshi Haruyoshi YAMADA - 9 Dan, President of the World Shito-ryu Shukokai Karate Do Union. The seminar's level was very high since both instructors are from the top of the world.
During Friday afternoon, the Dan gradings took place and 20 karateka from several countries participated. From the Greek side, instructors Nikolaos Karaiskakis and Anna Hourdaki have been awarded with the 5th Dan.


During the rest of the evening, instructor Nikolaos KARAISKAKIS participated in the council of the referee committee, where the rules of the competition were discussed along with the representatives of all countries. On Saturday, November 12th, the competitions began from early in the morning. The best teams that were awarded with most of the medals, were the Romanian, the Japanese and the Italian.

The Greek athletes participated in the KATA competitions, but did not manage to distinguish. In KUMITE, only Georgios Plousos participated, who gained the 3rd position in the category of -80 kilos.

The competition level was very high, given the fact that many european and world champions participated. It also has to be mentioned, that the effort of the Greek athletes was very good and they deserve to be congratulated.
