Nikolaos KARAISKAKIS

5th Dan Chief Instructor Shito-Ryu Shukokai Karate Union Greece
Vice-President Shito-Ryu Shukokai Karate Union Greece
A' Class National Kumite Referee of Greece
Acknowledged Instructor from the General Secretariat of Athletics of Greece (Official National Council of Athletics)

Born in the 28th of September 1962 in Athens, Greece. During the year of 1975, in the age of 13, Mr. Karaiskakis started his training in martial arts, under the supervision of Mr. Vasilios ZACHOPOULOS, in a modern Karate system, where most of its techniques originated from Ju Jutsu. With this organisation, Mr. Karaiskakis had many participations and distinctions in Greece, as well as abroad. As Mr. Karaiskakis was growing up, he was seeking for a system more traditional, because he realised that through his occupation with a traditional system he would discover the roots, the philosophy, the values and the beauty of martial arts.
For the first time, during the year of 1990, Mr. Karaiskakis was given the chance to gain a closer contact with the four traditional styles, namely Shotokan, Wado Ryu, Goju Ryu and Shito Ryu. In 1991, he decided to train close to Mr Georgios TSOGKAS in Shito Ryu, firstly because Mr. Tsogkas faced Mr. Karaiskakis more positively as a person and secondly, because Shito-Ryu Karate Do teaches the three styles Shuri Te, Naha Te, Tomari Te and he would have a broad viewpoint and knowledge for traditional Karate.

Mr Tsogkas was representing the organisation of Kobe Osaka International in Greece, with Mr. Tommy MORRIS in chief. Thereinafter, sensei Tommy Morris judged that Mr. Tsogkas was not capable to represent Kobe Osaka International in Greece, therefore, he released him from his duties within the organisation. For his replacement, sensei Morris judged Mr. Andreas PAPADIMITROPOULOS as a cabale person, who is a very remarkable man of karate and is even today President of Kobe Osaka in Greece, as well as President of the Greek Karate Federation. Mr. Karaiskakis continued being a member of Kobe Osaka with Mr. Morris as the Chief Instructor. He did not have another chance in Greece to be placed among a traditional organisation with its H.Q. in Japan that would be organised in Europe as well.

Mrs Aikaterini LOUKOPOULOS, whom not only he knows and trusts since 1980, but of whom he also is a student in Ryu Kyu Kobudo, recommended the Shukokai Shito-ryu Karate Union as a serious traditional organisation. Mr. Karaiskakis really wanted to meet the organisation and join them. This was succeeded, in August 2004, when Mr. Karaiskakis joined the Shito-ryu Shukokai Union of Europe and represents the organisation in Greece.

Since 1984, Nikolaos Karaiskakis and his wife Anna HOURDAKI 5th Dan, are both teaching the beauty of martial arts in Heraklion of Crete. As a result, many students of Mr. Karaiskakis have graduated from his school and have now become capable instructors having their own dojos.
The love for what Mr. Karaiskakis and his wife Anna Hourdaki do is great and they continue tirelessly.
