An exciting series of events will take place in Heraklion of Crete, Greece, between the 14th and 19th of October 2014!

The SSU (Shito-ryu Shukokai Union), which is the World governing body for Yamada-ha Shito-ryu Shukokai Karatedo, will have its 2014 “Yamada Cup” held in Heraklion of Crete, Greece, for the celebration of 10 years of SSU Greece and 30 years of our “Karaiskakis Karate dojo“, which is also the headquarters of SSU Greece.

For this celebration, SSU Greece have worked very hard to prepare a Budo festival that will include the 2014 World Cup of the union, entitled “Yamada Cup” and a series of seminars in Karate, Iaido and Kobudo. Seminars will mainly be lead by the highest in grade instructors of the SSU, assisted by numerous high-ranked instructors from all over the world. More specifically:

DURATION OF THE EVENTS

The events will mainly last from the 15th up to the 19th of October, in a full schedule including seminars, dan gradings and the “Yamada World Cup”. Officials of the city’s authorities will be invited for the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the world cup.


PARTICIPATION

An expected participation of at least 300 competitors is expected from all over the world. So far, applicants have registered from Austria, Botswana, England, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Japan, Portugal, Slovenia, Sweden, Switzerland, the USA and Wales, although more are expected. A crowd of approximately 1.000 spectators is expected to attend to the stadium, according to previously organised events.
